WHY I FOCUS ON IMPACT
As product manager and leaders, our ultimate responsibility is to build a successful and sustainable business.
And yet….
Many product teams are deeply disconnected from their business impact.
These teams prioritize work that sounds defensible, not work that contributes to the company’s high-level goals. They debate processes and responsibilities within and across their own teams, rather than working together to do the work that matters most. They drive intermediate success metrics like engagement and feature adoption, but struggle to understand how these metrics add up to growth and revenue targets.
The consequences of low-impact product teams are all around us, and all too familiar to many of us. And they are difficult to address while navigating the day-to-day responsibilities and politics of a product leadership role.
That’s where I come in.
Working With Me
I love doing this work, and I take pride in doing it in a way that is focused on relationships and results. I don’t make a lot of PowerPoint decks or use a lot of off-the-shelf frameworks. I’m not looking to build a consultancy at scale. When you’re working with me, you’re working with me.
My favorite way to work with companies is through longer-term (six months or more) engagements that involve a mix of consulting, advising training, coaching, and hands-on product work as needed. This gives us access to all available levers for maximizing the impact of product teams effectively and efficiently.
For teams and organizations that want a more tightly scoped engagement, I offer:
Facilitated workshops to clarify team and organization-level success and survival goals
Training sessions to teach business-critical skills like impact estimation and product discovery
Team-by-team goal, strategy, and prioritization audits to align high-level goals with day-to-day product decisions (this applies to “supporting” and operational teams as well!)
